Podcast Instructions:
Purpose:
Answer the following in a blog post. Make sure each answer is a paragraph (5+ sentences).
1. Do you think the crime rate in Canada is lower now or higher now than it was twenty or thirty years ago? State your opinion and give reasons to support your claim. 2. Research the topic online. Does the research (make sure it is from Canadian sources instead of American!) support or contradict your claim? Explain why you think it does/does not support your previous opinion. Quote specific articles when providing evidence. When quoting, use the proper MLA format. This means, when talking about statistics say either the author's name in brackets or the website article name if no author listed. For example, using a fictional statement and author, I would say, "Crime is 50% lower/higher now than it was in 1980 (Smith)." or if I couldn't find an author's name on the website article, "Crime is 50% lower/higher now than it was in 1980 ("Modern Crime Statistics"). " For further details on how to quote/cite information, you can check out PennState. 3. Create a list of at least 3 sources online from reputable sources in proper MLA format. Use a bibliography generator such as BibMe to create properly cited sources. Title this section "Sources". Listen to episode 6 here:
